Improving the environment

The BID aims to improve the appearance of Southport town centre and make it a more attractive place to visit, shop and invest.  Over the last two years we have made the following improvements to the appearance and environment, non of which would be possible without the money raised from BID levys.

  • 200 hanging baskets installed annually throughout the town centre and 19 giant three tier floral displays introduced in 2016
  • 60 winter plant barrier baskets introduced winter 2016
  • 65 Colourful promotional banners along Eastbank Street and Nevill Street
  • 45 Christmas banners along Nevill Street in 2016
  • 20,000 square metres of streets deep cleaned and gum removed,
  • Quarter of a million tree lights installed along Lord Street to create a ‘boulevard of light’
  • Fully funded Christmas lights scheme for the town centre, extended to new streets for 2016
  • 100’s of reports of fly tipping, dog fouling, graffiti, fly posting and waste collection issues actively addressed
