In response to the changing political environment, the BID board has employed Hugh Evans to give the BID a stronger lobbying voice on decisions affecting the BID area.
A Southport resident, Hugh has ten years’ experience in the development and management of BIDs, and over 20 years’ experience of lobbying and policy development. Through work with other regional BID’s and the Chamber of Commerce, Hugh has extensive experience and an impressive history of delivering projects to enhance the vitality of town centres. He played a leading role in delivering the original manifesto and bringing through Southport’s BID, and looks forward to returning to the area and working with the businesses again.
Of the role, Hugh says “I am looking forward to working with the Board and management team to build on the excellent work that has already been done. I will work hard to ensure that the voice of the BID and its 950 levy payers are listened to by government and other local stakeholders” Hugh will take the concerns and issues faced by BID member businesses, and deliver a clear message of support. He will hold Sefton Council and other agencies and parties to account on the strategic decisions that are made, and work closely with MP’s and Councillors to ensure the best interests of the BID area and its businesses are forefront in all discussions.
Chair of the BID Board, and General Manager of the Ramada, Enda Rylands says “The BID recognised the need to have a more powerful voice at the highest levels. We need to stand up for the membership, listen to them and deliver their concerns to the decision makers before decisions are made.
This includes decisions around parking charges, the beach areas and public realm decisions which directly affect BID members. Hugh’s appointment will allow us to have a greater input in decisions affect the BID area, he will give us a louder and more forceful voice in decision making process and will be a strong and vocal advocate of the businesses in the community”
