Our projects

We have undertaken several successful projects, all based on the objectives laid out in our original manifesto.  We continue to build on the work we a re doing and more projects are planned for 2017.

In the first two years of our first term we have achieved the following:

  • Free car parking for late night shopping 2016 and Saturday’s 2015
  • 10,000 square metres of street cleaning completed each year
  • Funding footfall measurement cameras and collection of data
  • Funded Christmas lighting scheme, including over half a million throughout the town centre year 1 and expanded the scheme with 40 new features in new streets year 2
  • Lord Street tree lights installed to create a year round boulevard of light
  • Bigger, better Christmas lights switch on event
  • Introduced Spookport – an annual Halloween festival and carnival – expanding the season into the Autumn half term
  • Joint funded & delivered the brand new Southport Festival in May, which saw¬†footfall of over 100,000 over three days
  • Investment prospectus developed and ready for launch in 2017
  • Business Against Crime network established
  • Body Cameras, taxi marshals and Cop Shop introduced
  • Healthy High Street partnership acceptance
  • Brand new planting schemes for summer and winter
  • Joint BID – STBN Christmas marketing campaigns
  • Christmas features including an ice rink year one and late night shopping entertainment and family activities year 2
  • Launched Southport Independents Campaign to promote and highlight businesses in Southport
